'HORROR BAG BITS'

The ads you see here are all from the backs of Horror bags packets, of course advertising two of the products Bones and Fangs and the horror bags tagline 'Snacks that go crunch in the night'. I think that Bones and Fangs were the first of the 4 product line. I still have yet to see a packet of Fangs and Bats that I could put here in The Cobwebbed room. Surely you would think that their is some sort of archive that Smith's crisps has of all their products, including packet designs, advertising, promotional items etc. Certainly on the net their doesn't seem to be anything, maybe someone knows differently that could share it here.

Thanks to Steve C.

There won't be much left for an ex-Smiths storeman to put on soon! Neat litle selection there; that fella in the top hat looks quite hypnotic: "Buy these crisps...buy these...

I've looked everywhere for a contact email address, not sure I should really be posting this here?? But I found some U.K Horrop top trumps 1970's, you may be interested in.

I am sure there are quite a few things to still look out for regarding horror bags, its just coming across this stuff.

I have the Horror top trumps packs which I hope to put in The Cobwebbed room sometime. Thanks for the link anyway.

I suppose the crisps themselves have never really gone away. Tranform-a-Snack and Space Raiders are probably the same recipe but I hardly noticed either before the Cobwebbed Room came along.

That said, Horror Bags seem to have risen above straightforward commercial seduction because their spin-offs can be admired as creative artefacts rather than part of the mass of 70's nostalgia.

Was it in horror bags thatyou got those metal faces of things like werewolves? I think they were called harum scarums and they were my fave thing when I was little. When would they have been on the market? I'm thinking of around 1974...?

Hi Ravi

The metal faces were 'Wear-em-Scare-ems' from Tudor crisps and I think they were from about 1974. Nice little set which sometimes you see for sale on ebay.
